Navigating Our Edges: Partnership Guiding in Silence
Written by: Summer Crider and Madison Traviss
”A friendship between two certified and nomadic guides, who met at an ANFT immersion, blossomed into a professional collaboration. With one guide being Deaf and the other hearing, they experimented with a partnership guiding within a sound-less, silent space both virtually and in-person.
The article explains both perspectives as they navigated their edges within this space, using an approach that not many are comfortable with: silence…Nature — in the wild world — disability is merely a social construct and involving silence in Nature Therapy helps us look deep inside ourselves and find the gifts of imperfection or stigmas that the tamed world imposes on us. Ultimately, this partnership experience reveals that partnership work isn’t an island, it is a web.”
